You Know You’re Tired When…

You have a dream that your baby is sleeping on the other side of your husband-even going so far as to reach over him to make sure she is not going to fall off the bed. Then, hearing the baby through the monitor-literally waking and jumping out of bed because you just knew that Constance had somehow gotten off the bed and was crawling out of the room….AND waking your husband up saying that the baby was crawling out of the room.

To begin with, Constance had been safely asleep in her own crib that entire night. Secondly, there is no way for her to get out of our bed without us knowing. Our bed is up high and if she tried to get down she would have fallen and cried. It is crazy how real your dreams can be sometimes.

I took Constance to the doctor for the second time in one week. She had started to pull on her ears again and we wanted to make sure it was not an infection. However, we wasted an hour at the doctor’s office because they could not find anything. She has gained a whole ounce though in one week-21.1 pounds.

All Better

Constance seems to be feeling much better and I think the worst is over!

We have gone to one nap a day which has been interesting for all of us. Constance wakes up between 7 and 7:45 in the morning and then stays up till 12:30p.m. or later. I no longer try to “force” a nap on her but wait till she is very tired. That has gone very well for the both of us. Her change in schedule also means that I am down to nursing her three times a day instead of four. She will wake up and I nurse her, then I feed her mid-afternoon and then again at bed time.

Her vocabulary consists of the words, “Dada, Mama, Cat, and Hi.” She can also say a hundred other words but we have not been able to interpret them yet.

Constance’s hair has been on a growth spurt as well. I have a very fuzzy headed child now and look forward to it being long enough to put in pig tails one day.

Strep Throat

Last Sunday, Keith and I noticed that Constane was very cranky which is unusual for her. Her left ear looked red and she pulled on it some and had a runny nose. Sunday night was a rough night with her waking up several times. On Monday, her ear looked better and we had a slightly better day but she still had cold symptoms. Monday night was really rough with her waking up screaming. Constance woke up this morning a little cranky and I called the doctor and set up an appointment. The doctor looked in both ears, in her throat and listened to her breathing. All seemed fine. She then told me that she would do a strep test even though having strep in a baby so young is very unusal. Sure enough, that is what she has...Strep Throat. I have medicine to give her that should make her feel better pretty quickly. Poor baby!

Hands on Head

I can’t believe that in two weeks and five days, Constance will be a year old! Looking at pictures taken over the past week I can see how big she is getting.

She also can do some really neat things. Our daughter still claps all the time and is so happy when she does it. She can put her hands on her head when we say, “Hands on Head,” and of course she claps for herself (and we clap with her) when she does this. Constance is not walking yet but we have noticed that she does not hold onto objects as firmly as she used to.

As for her eating habits, she seems to be a bottomless pit sometimes especially when it comes to Cheerios. Give her a small bowl with some Cheerios in there, and she is one happy baby. In a way, she is eating less solid food because she does not let me feed her purees (even the thicker kinds) as much as she used to. She likes to feed herself. That leads into other problems because she does not chew all food items with her teeth. So harder objects such has small bites of raw fruits and veggies or meat she often chokes on. I figured after Christmas I will start the weaning process. I am kind of hoping she starts weaning herself but so far she is not showing signs of doing that.
